Due to extenuating circumstances, Saoirse Charity Thrift will be closing its 1201 N. Tioga Street location at the end of September.

A temporary pause

The sale of the building led to a rent increase that we could not keep up with, and we will be closing our doors with a final date of Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Words cannot express our gratitude! Thank you to everyone who has donated, shopped and spread the word about this venture. You have, in fact saved lives by doing so.

Final weekend plans

As part of our closing day, we hope you will join us for our annual bake sale and Sadies Popsicle Popup with all proceeds going to Saoirse Pastures.

We will have some version of a clearance sale. If anyone has needs for other organizations please let me know and we can make sure those items get to where they are needed most.

What’s next?

We have looked into alternative spaces throughout downtown Ithaca, but cannot afford the rent prices. The thrift shop has given us financial independence, but also allowed us to take care of our community in other ways by offering low cost items. Therefore, raising our prices is not an option for us.

The end of 1201 N. Tioga leads us to a new beginning.

We are revisiting an original idea to have the thrift shop on the sanctuary grounds married with a visitor center for tour guests. We have ideas for other uses from this building space as well (Ed center, veggie farm stand with our friends at Hidden Thistle Farm), we just need to get over the financial hurdle of building it. Having the building as a multipurpose space allows us to expand our grant options.
