What to Know Before Booking a Tour

We’re so glad you’re interested in visiting Saoirse Pastures! All tour proceeds go directly to sustaining our animal residents. Our goal is for visitors to feel inspired by the sanctuary setting, enriched by encounters with the residents, and empowered by knowledge about the lives of rescued farm animals.

Saoirse Pastures is a vegan rescue and sanctuary whose priority is the well-being of our residents. Be prepared to learn about the lives of the animals at the sanctuary as well as the realities many farmed animals face as part of our food system. Because we are not a working farm or a petting zoo, visitors should be aware that not all animals will welcome interaction and should be prepared to treat all residents with respect. That said, many of them do love a belly rub or chin scratch!

Tours are $25 per visitor, approximately one hour in length, and may be combined with other visitors for a maximum of six visitors per tour. All visitors must be registered ahead of time so we can ensure there is room for everyone. Payments can be made as a donation through our website or payment upon arrival via: cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, credit card, or Apple Pay

1009 Perry City RD, Ithaca. The sanctuary has a long driveway accommodating three addresses (1009, 1045, 1071). Upon arrival proceed to the top of the driveway until you have rounded the third house and you see the large black barns.  The sanctuary grounds are home to multiple families and we ask that you do not arrive early and please do not walk around the grounds until you have been met by a Saoirse Pastures team member.

Tours cover a rough, unpaved terrain which may include hills, tall grass, mud, and poop! Please dress accordinglywith proper footwear (we recommend muck-style boots if you have them, or closed-toed shoes you don’t mind getting dirty). In the warmer months, consider sunscreen and tick and bug repellent. In colder months, consider a winter hat and gloves. Unfortunately our tours cannot accommodate strollers, and wheelchair and walker access is limited. Please contact us with accommodation questions.

To ensure the residents’ safety, please leave food and companion animals at home. We do not have a picnic area or public restroom available (though we hope to have a visitor’s center one day!).

Tour times may be limited due to weather including severe temperatures, and availability. If you’re looking to book a tour further in the future, please return to this page as availability opens.

If Saoirse Pastures needs to cancel a tour based on inclement weather, extreme temperatures, or other circumstances, tours will be rescheduled. In the event a visitor cancels a tour, tour fees will be used as a general donation to support the sanctuary’s rescue efforts.
